“You’re Not a Visionary. You’re a Vendor.”

This week I watched Devil Wears Prada 2 and there was one line that immediately stuck with me.

Miranda Priestly looks at Emily and says:

“You’re not a visionary. You’re a vendor.”

And honestly?

It was probably my favorite line in the movie.

Not because there’s anything wrong with being a vendor — every business needs great vendors.

But because it highlighted something I believe deeply about leadership, partnerships, and the way we’ve intentionally built Sunday Brunch Agency.

We are not here to simply “complete tasks.”

We’re not here to just check boxes, deliver files, or disappear until the next request comes through.

We are strategic partners.

Visionary partners.

The difference matters.

A vendor waits for instructions.

A visionary partner thinks ahead.
Challenges ideas.
Brings strategy to the table.
Helps build the bigger picture.

And over time, I’ve realized the best business relationships are built that way.

Not transactional.

Collaborative.

The clients we work best with are the ones who want partnership — not just production.

People who value ideas, perspective, communication, and growth.

That’s where the magic happens.

That’s where businesses evolve.

So this week I’m curious:

What did you think of the movie?

And in your own business — do you see yourself as a vendor… or a visionary partner?

I think the answer changes everything.
