Right Person. Right Role.

Delegation isn't just about getting something off your plate.

It's about deciding who is best suited to own it.

Think about a soccer team.

Every player has a position based, in part, on what they're good at. Your best goalie and your best forward probably don't have identical skill sets—and you don't need them to.

The same is true in business.

Some people are organized and detail-oriented. Others are incredibly creative. Some are natural communicators. Others are strategic thinkers or problem-solvers.

Great leadership requires understanding those differences.

When I'm delegating at Sunday Brunch Agency, I don't want to look only at who has capacity.

I want to consider the person.

What are they naturally good at? Where have I seen them thrive? Does this responsibility fit their skill set?

That doesn't mean we don't stretch people or give them opportunities to grow.

We absolutely should.

But there's a difference between challenging someone to grow and consistently putting someone in a role that doesn't play to their strengths.

When the right people own the right things, you create more than efficiency.

You create confidence, accountability, and better work.

Everyone may have a different position, but we're still one team.

Different strengths. Different roles. Same direction.

That's what strong delegation looks like to me.

So ask yourself:

Are you delegating based on who is available—or who is best suited for the responsibility?
