The Event Checklist You're Forgetting
I love putting on a great event.
And yes, a good checklist matters.
The venue. The food. The timing. The details. Making sure nothing gets forgotten.
But I've learned that there's another piece of preparation that's just as important:
You have to prepare yourself.
Wear comfortable shoes. Stay hydrated. Eat before you get there. If alcohol is being served, know your limit.
These things sound small until you're three hours into an event and realize you haven't eaten anything all day.
Preparation is mental, too.
Know your goal before you walk into the room.
Are you there to meet new people? Strengthen existing relationships? Support someone? Create an experience?
I've talked before about being intentional when networking, and I believe the same thing applies here.
You don't need to walk into a room and talk to everyone.
You need to know why you're there and be prepared to show up well.
Because you can create the perfect event on paper and still not be at your best when it's time to experience it.
So make the checklist.
Handle the details.
Then add yourself to it.
Preparing yourself is part of preparing for the event.
